”Demi, you don’t know that. Don’t always think the worst.” Joseph tried to take Rose from my arms but I nudged him away. “Cancel the show,” I said, “I’m taking her to the hospital.” I walked in the direction of the entrance to the stadium, my mother in tow. We got in the tour bus, Joe sat in the back with me and Rose while mom sat in the passenger seat. We arrived at the hospital almost an hour later due to annoying traffic. (3 hours later) After all the tests had been run the four of us sat in the waiting room until finally, the doctor came in with the news. “Rose Jonas?” We all stood up at once. “That’s us, how is she?” I said. The doctor gave me a reassuring smile, “She’s fine. No heart condition. Just the flu, you can go in and see her.” I sighed in relief and Joe gave me the “I told you so” look. We went into Rosey’s room, she was wide awake, staring off into space. “Hey baby girl.” I brushed her dark curls from her face and she looked at me, her eyes dancing. “Mommy! It cold.” I looked back at her, confused. “The probe was cold, baby girl? Is that what you’re saying?” She nodded like crazy. “So cold! Tired. Sleep, ma, sleep.” Her eyes were moving all around the room and she was blinking rapidally. I looked at the doctor who’s face was as white as the winter snow. “Why is she talking like that?” She’s 5, she can speak way better than she is now. “Why are her eyes doing that? I thought you said she was fine!” I yelled. The doctor came over and opened Rose’s eyelids …
